Jesus was a gentle man.

Today’s thoughts focus on Gentleness.  I am reminded that it is a fruit of the spirit.  “Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, Galatians 5:22-23.

Jesus said blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5

With Jesus announcement that the kingdom was at hand, it is natural that people wanted to know how to qualify themselves to be in God’s kingdom.  In the kingdom of heaven, wealth, power and authority are not important.

I want to be like Jesus each day.  I pray for this.  You see, kingdom people seek different blessings and benefits and they have different attitudes.
Jesus frees people from all burdens.  The rest that Jesus promises is love, healing, and peace with God.  A relationship with Him changes meaningless wearisome toil into spiritual productivity and purpose.

Today’s scripture is from Matthew 11:28 where Jesus teaches us about being gentle and His own gentleness.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls”.

Gentleness is a bi-product of Christ’s control.  We can’t obtain it with out His help.  If we want our fruit to grow, we must join with him and what he is doing in the world.

We must know Him, Love Him, remember Him, and imitate Him.  Do you want the precious fruit of the spirit in you? Remember, He is the vine and we are the branches.

Are your attitudes a carbon copy of the world’s selfishness pride and lust for power, or do they reflect the humility and self-sacrifice of Jesus, your king?

God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So you should always clothe yourselves with mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Colossians 3:12

To be well, you must be gentle.

God bless you always,
